Why it didn't work:
YouTube's API doesn't provide chronological comment access. You can only fetch "newest available" or "top by relevance" - there's no way to retrieve the actual first comments on a video, which were the entire point of the piece.
Watch comments from YouTube videos float by like a river. Still functional, but doesn't achieve the original vision.
